Owner, Sales, Project Manager
With the birth of his first child, Joe left the hallowed halls of academia to open a small cabinet shop in the Fort George section of Northern Manhattan so that he could better support his growing family. What started as an economic necessity blossomed into a passion. He is happy now to have the opportunity to use his head, hands and heart to construct houses and do renovations that are smartly designed, finely crafted and soulfully aligned with the fundamental principles of sustainability.
When not knee-deep in work, Joe loves spending time cross country skiing with his family, running, and zipping about Berkshire County in his restored Miata.
Weatherization Project Manager
Shaun is our most experienced A.S.S. (Air Sealing Specialist), as well as our most certified. He holds BPI (Building Performance Institute) certification and is certified in the MassGreen Initiative Weatherization Program. Shaun is also involved in weatherization education and outreach, having served as a member of the task force that developed the curriculum for the MassGreen Initiative Weatherization Program, whose purpose is to train weatherization workers. Shaun is an avid reader and watcher of obscure Asian slasher films. He enjoys playing his guitar and hiking wherever he finds a trail.
Sean “Homer” Turner
With two Shaun/Seans on our weatherization crew, we had to tag one of them with a nickname; and why not Homer? Homer is our most decorated A.S.S. being a consistent winner of the prestigious John Goodman World of Pain Award, given each month to the crew member who crawls into the nastiest crawlspace or tightest attic. Homer is fearless. He is the proud father of twin boys and a daughter and enjoys camping, fishing, target shooting, and going over to The Valley to watch the monster truck competitions. Asked how he feels about what can be a tough job, Homer responds, “It has its ups and downs, but it makes me feel good to help all those people out there to save on their heating bills during the winter season.”
Throughout his schooling career, Josh always took advantage of shop classes, learning everything from metal working to house building. Upon graduation, Josh immediately found work in the construction industry. He worked in masonry for a couple of years, then moved to bridge building, which he did for 3 years. He has worked the last eight years in residential home building and remodeling.
Josh genuinely enjoys his choice of career and continues to grow and learn in the trades. He derives great satisfaction out of always anticipating the next needed step in the process and out of producing a product that a customer will love and cherish for years to come.
